FAQ: What is the best controller.
Answer: Primus for car carriers, Digital Prodigy for Caravans and Campers, Prodigy P3 for boat trailers over 2000kg.
Magnets are rated at 3.2amp per magnet. Electric braked axle will draw 6.4amps or 76.8 watts on a single axle system.
We recommend using a Tekonsha Primus or Prodigy or a Chassis Mounted brake controller (Qld and NT Only)
For chassis mounted brake systems, do not wire electric brakes into the brake light circuit. Brake light circuits generally provide 21 watts of power and can be used a control circuit only for chassis mounted controllers.
All brake controllers must be wired from the battery. In most cases, the brake controller has a relay that is powered from the brake lights.
If brake lights are used to power brake controllers, significant voltage losses will occur resulting in brakes operating less than 10% capacity.
Increasing wire size will not fix the problem.
It is permissible to wire chassis controllers form the onboard battery in the caravan because this battery is often powered from the main car battery. | Showing 1 - 4 of 4 Results |
