Weld rings are welded onto the axle and secure the
electric backing plates to the axle.
40mm Weld Rings fit 39mm Round Axles and 40mm Square
Axles.45mm Weld Rings are the most common and fit
45mm Round, 45mm Square Axles.
Weld rings puch straight onto the bearing profile,
rest against the last machine fact and push against the non machined part of the
axle. For electric brakes this should be 125mm from the tip of the axle to the
front of the weld ring.
When welding, it is important to make sure the weld
ring is perfectly square with the axle. If sightly out of alignment, your brakes
will wear unevenly.
7/16" UNF Nuts and Star washers should be used when
bolting electric backing plates to your weld rings.
There are nipples on one side of the weld ring. These
nipples face outside and align your electric backing plate exactly on the center
of the axle.
